Newman Center 5K Race Review 2007

The Newman Center 5K was run on January 27, 2007. The weather was overcast but dry this year breaking a 2 year wet spell.
There were about 100 runners who comptered in the 5K to
benifit the Newman center at the University of Hawaii. If you park on
the Monoa side of the cathollic school parking lot, then you will save
the $3 fee that the University of Hawaii is always good at collecting
so that you can park your car at the Newman Center.
The race runs in the back roads that connect it to
Woodlawn Drive to the Monoa Park back parking lot where the turnaround
is and then as in most out and back courses, the way out, is the way
back in.
Nearly everyone won a door prize which makes this race
alot of fun to attend. Several grand prizes were given away including
great pizza certificates at McGoos. Refreshments after the race
included as many moon pies and ice creams that you could eat along with
bannanas and oranges.
This is a race I would recommend to the running community to try it at
least once. Try it and you may certainly like it, like I do.
